Nicola Stopps
CEO
Nicola Stopps is CEO of Simply Sustainable. Nicola has 20 years’ experience in sustainability and ESG having worked for some of the largest companies in the world.
Since founding Simply Sustainable in 2010, Nicola has worked with a number of international and national organisations on developing their CSR and sustainability programmes.
Previous roles include; Head of Corporate Responsibility at T-Mobile, Director of Sustainability and Environment at Travelodge Hotels, as well as working for DHL and the BBC. Nicola holds a Geography degree from University of Exeter and received her Master’s in Environmental Impact Assessment and Auditing from the University of East Anglia in 1999.
Nicola has a proven capability to deliver high-quality projects on time and on budget. She has gained a reputation of someone who ‘gets the job done’ and has experience working in a wide range of sectors. With firm foundations in environmental management and experience in successfully implementing sustainability and ESG strategies, Nicola is nationally recognised as a leader in the field of corporate sustainability and ESG. She is a Fellow of IEMA and the RSA and sits on the CBI Energy and Climate Change Committee and was elected as a CBI Council Member for the East of England.
Alan Maynard
CFO
Alan is CFO of Simply Sustainable. Alan is a chartered accountant and has spent over 27 years working in private equity businesses both as an investor and a portfolio company director. He has extensive experience working with growing businesses and in M&A and across a range of sectors including professional services, media, leisure and industrial products.
Jane Cumisky
MD, UK
Jane is a sustainability and corporate communications specialist with more than 20 years of experience delivering external and internal initiatives. As Managing Director, Jane looks after the consultancy team and together with the Heads of each focus area, she helps to take a holistic view of our clients’ sustainability journeys, develop strategies and impactful initiatives and manages how best to communicate those to internal and external stakeholders.
After beginning her career in crisis management and corporate communications consultancy, Jane focused on sustainable business during her seven years at Vodafone Group. Other in-house sustainability roles included Direct Line Group and Leonardo, for the second largest supplier to the MoD. Understanding the challenges and stakeholder management nuances of the sustainability director is where Jane helps companies most.
Our Netherlands team
Sytze Dijkstra
Netherlands Country Manager
Sytze leads Simply Sustainable’s business in the Netherlands, working with European companies on their sustainability strategy, GHG emissions plans and reporting. Sytze enjoys helping companies understand how they can integrate sustainability into their business strategies and has in-depth expertise in preparation and reporting for the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
Before joining Simply Sustainable, Sytze held various roles in sustainability research, thought leadership and consulting, advising companies and governments on strategies for accelerating the transition to sustainable business practices. He brings expertise in modelling transition scenarios, evaluating business cases and developing roadmaps, particularly in the energy sector, transport and logistics and manufacturing.
Lorna James
Senior Consultant
Lorna works closely with large organisations in developing and implementing agile sustainability strategies and action plans, including preparing for CSRD reporting and guiding them through disclosure requirements, data collection, and compliance workshops.
Lorna brings a wealth of knowledge in sustainability and expertise in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions gained from supporting large companies with their emissions reporting. Lorna also brings experience in circularity, having collaborated with companies to co-create strategies on the role of supply chains in supporting the transition to a circular economy.
Lorna holds an MSc in Sustainability Science Policy and Society from Maastricht University, BSc Natural Sciences, from the University of East Anglia, and a PGCE Mathematics from the University of Oxford. These experiences taught Lorna the fundamentals of sustainability, the importance of supporting companies to understand their impact, and how they can adapt practices to align with international sustainability goals and regulations

Elodie Irons
Graduate Consultant
Elodie specialises in supporting large organisations as they prepare for their first reporting year under the CSRD. This includes working closely with clients to discuss the relevant disclosure requirements for their businesses and hosting workshops aimed at facilitating their understanding and compliance with regulations. Elodie recently joined Simply Sustainable as a Graduate Consultant in our Amsterdam office, after obtaining her master’s degree in International Relations and Security from the University of Liverpool.
Elodie’s passion for addressing social injustices led her to volunteer as a Childline counsellor alongside her studies, providing one-to-one mental health support to hundreds of young people across the UK and then also led her to Amsterdam in 2023, where she embarked on a full-time internship as a Policy and Project Lead at the Impact Economy Foundation. This non-profit start-up organisation is dedicated to solving critical global challenges such as climate change, poverty, and inequality. Having extensively researched the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) throughout her internship, Elodie has developed a fervent interest in responsible corporate governance and is committed to helping organisations make more sustainable choices.

Joaska Mischke
Head of ESG and Sustainability Strategy
Joaska leads strategic initiatives for our clients and embeds sustainability into organisations within an ever-evolving business landscape. As a specialist in sustainability, materiality, and transformation, Joaska excels at developing and integrating complete ESG and sustainability strategies. She has also successfully led numerous CSRD-aligned double materiality projects, both as part of broader strategies and standalone efforts. Her expertise in incorporating CSRD requirements into business processes ensures value creation beyond compliance.
Joaska attended the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) where she obtained an MSc in Management, Organisations and Governance. She also holds diplomas in Design Thinking from IDEO, Business Sustainability Management from the University of Cambridge and Sustainable Business Strategy from Harvard Business School. She is a registered Associate at the Institute of Environment Management and Assessment (IEMA) and is a GRI-certified sustainability professional.
Ailsa Dormon
Senior Consultant – ESG and Sustainability Strategy
Ailsa has specific experience in developing and implementing agile ESG and sustainability strategies and action plans for corporate clients with a strong expertise in navigating the reporting landscape. Ailsa uses this insight to provide clear and actionable strategic support to clients looking to make progress on the biggest issues facing business and finance today.
With a background in innovation and sustainability consulting, Ailsa is driven by helping businesses to think big and take action. Ailsa obtained a first-class master’s degree in physics from the University of Exeter, after which she worked at a brand and innovation Agency guiding well-known brands in sustainable and innovative strategy and communications. Ailsa then moved to a sustainability consultancy where she helped clients to solve large strategic challenges. It was here that Ailsa began developing sustainability strategies for businesses and embedding sustainable practises across the full breadth of environmental and social subject areas.
Ella Narain
Consultant
Ella is an experienced ESG specialist, proficient at driving sustainability strategies and initiatives for global companies. Her expertise spans across double materiality assessments aligned with CSRD, ESG maturity assessments, horizon scanning, learning and development training, and GRI reporting.
Ella holds a qualification in Business Sustainability Management from the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) and she is a registered Associate at the Institute of Environment Management and Assessment (IEMA).
Charlotte Barker
Consultant
Charlotte focuses on delivering CSRD-aligned double materiality assessments and sustainability strategies. Charlotte supports organisations in navigating the ever-changing ESG and corporate sustainability landscape and has proven experience working in social value and has a passion for all things social sustainability.
Charlotte has a degree in Economics and Geography from the University of Leeds, which included a year abroad at Western University in Ontario, Canada. Charlotte joined Simply Sustainable from the economic development team at an infrastructure consulting firm. There, she worked on a range of socio-economic and human health impact assessments for large infrastructure projects (including solar farms, energy links, and mixed-use residential developments), as well as undertaking a range of bespoke socio-economic research and analysis for several clients. She was also seconded part-time as a social value consultant, where she led the reporting and monitoring of social value targets across a large public sector infrastructure project.

Henry Unwin
Head of Climate and Carbon
Henry has dedicated his career to sustainability, building up 14 years of experience both as a consultant and in-house. For a decade Henry drove sustainability initiatives in-house within regional government, international business and regenerative agriculture and retail. A passionate advocator for businesses’ role in tackling the climate crisis, dedicating much of his time in the food, farming and retail sector.
Henry leads our Climate and Carbon Team, making the complex simple for the businesses he works with. His specialisms include senior stakeholder engagement, supporting businesses to set their ambition for net zero and developing bespoke net-zero strategies to drive carbon reduction through supply chains.
Will Bourns
Senior Consultant – Climate and Carbon Services
Will specialises in the quantification of corporate greenhouse gas emissions across direct operations and supply chains in a range of sectors. This enables Will and the team to create net-zero targets and align strategies for companies to halt the worst impacts of climate change by transitioning their companies to 1.5 degrees. Will’s love for the natural world has led him to work with organisations to understand Forest Land and Agricultural emissions (FLAG), associated targets as well risks and opportunities associated with climate and nature.
Will studied Zoology and Natural Sciences at the University of Liverpool and since graduating Will expanded his knowledge through memberships at PIEMA and EI. Before joining Simply Sustainable Will worked at a series of not-for-profit organisations from WWF to Battersea Dogs and Cats Home as well as We are Albert where he created an emissions calculator tool used by the film and TV industry to support the supply chain in quantifying its impact. Outside of work, Will volunteers at Care4Calais, a charity supporting asylum seekers and refugees in the UK and Europe.
Camila Segura
Consultant
As a Climate and Carbon consultant, Camila is deeply passionate about nature and biodiversity. Camila works with multiple sectors but predominately collaborates on projects in the food and beverage industry and specialises in analysing the decarbonisation of a business’s procurement emissions, particularly in relation to forest and land use change.
Camila has devoted her academic and professional career to addressing environmental and sustainability challenges. Her academic background is in environmental engineering, and she recently completed a Master’s in Global Sustainability Challenges from the University of Exeter. Camila’s goal is to help companies in their decarbonisation efforts by establishing connections with nature.
Harry Freeman
Consultant
Harry is a dedicated Climate and Carbon Consultant at Simply Sustainable, leveraging data-driven insights to deliver robust net-zero solutions. With extensive experience in carbon footprint analysis, verification and net-zero strategy development, Harry champions sustainable impact and drives business success through innovative environmental solutions.
Utilising his degree in Property Finance and Investment alongside his PIEMA certification, Harry focuses on delivering business-oriented sustainable transformations.
Maria Serrano
Consultant
Maria is a performance driven and passionate Climate and Carbon Consultant who has developed her skills and expertise in-house and in consultancy. She has experience working across multiple sectors like financial services, real estate, food and retail. Maria specialises in carbon accounting, setting science-based targets, third-party verification and climate-related disclosures such as CDP, having enabled multiple clients to increase their scores year on year.
Maria’s university background in Environmental Science was the driving force for her wanting to work in sustainability.

Ed Packshaw
Head of Risk, Reporting and Communications
Ed joins the Simply Sustainable team with over 12 years experience in ESG and corporate sustainability, combining both in-house sustainability leadership roles with client leadership and project management expertise, across a range of sectors, including real estate, construction, education and pharmaceuticals.
As our Head of Risk, Reporting and Communications, Ed is responsible for leading clients through their disclosure journey, driving continuous improvement and transparency to deliver impactful and comparable reporting practices that align with a wide-range of stakeholder expectations and help clients present their achievements and goals towards becoming a truly sustainable and profitable business.
Ed has a wealth of experience in international standard and frameworks, including TCFD, SASB, ISSB, CDP, SDGs, GRI, UNGC and a detailed understanding of UK, EU and US regulations and compliance requirements.
Alongside his professional experience, Ed holds a diploma in Sustainable Finance from the University of Cambridge, professional qualifications in Environmental Management and Carbon Management from IEMA and an honours degree in Zoology & Biological Sciences from the University of Edinburgh.
Andrea Gamble
Senior Consultant – Risk, Reporting and Communications
Andrea is a driven sustainability and project management expert with over 15 years of environmental experience. She is a professional reporting specialist skilled in climate risk management, carbon footprinting and ESG reports aligned with international standards. Andrea’s experience in climate-related financial disclosures, including climate scenario analysis, risk assessment, and TCFD narrative creation, is backed up by her history of obtaining TCFD compliance for her clients.
Andrea obtained a Master of Science with distinction in Environmental Management at Kingston University London. Prior to this, Andrea obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Victoria, Canada. She is an IEMA-certified Practitioner and successfully completed the IEMA Certified Carbon Management Training. Andrea is completing the FSA Credential, an advanced two-part certification to demonstrate expertise in matters related to the best-practice sustainability-related financial accounting standards, the ISSB Standards.
Cameron Wilson
Consultant
Cameron joined our graduate cohort in 2021 after completing his law degree and now has nearly 5 years of experience, specialising in sustainability reporting in line with local legislation, global frameworks and standards; sustainability risk management and also compliance with ESG-related company law. Cameron is very detail-oriented and analytical in compliance requirements for laws, international standards and frameworks and has the ability and experience to work with our clients on all aspects of sustainability when required.
Cameron has supported an array of clients across a multitude of sectors on subjects such as sustainability report writing, stakeholder engagement, materiality assessments, climate risk assessments, sustainability communications development and carbon footprinting. Cameron is incredibly passionate about helping businesses become more resilient, primarily by understanding and identifying sustainability-related risks and opportunities; whilst showcasing progress through transparent disclosures.
Mila Fenton-O’Creevy
Consultant
With a keen eye for detail and an analytical mind, Mila excels at identifying and assessing climate-related financial risks and opportunities, and exploring how these subjects can be monitored and managed to enhance the strategic and financial resilience of our clients. Having traversed various sectors and geographies in her work, Mila has built a significant foundation of knowledge in this area which is applied to each of her projects. Beyond this, Mila has played a critical role in the development of ESG strategies, in supporting businesses to enhance the sustainability of their supply chains, and in writing comprehensive and data-oriented ESG reports.
In order to continue to develop her knowledge of the boundary between climate change and the financial performance of businesses, Mila is in the process of gaining qualifications from the Chartered Financial Analyst Institute (CFA) and the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in sustainable finance and sustainability-related financial reporting, respectively. Mila is also an Associate Member of the Institute of Environmental Management (IEMA). Before joining Simply Sustainable, Mila graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a first-class degree in Politics, International Relations and Sustainable Development. Mila also received the Russell Keat Prize for the best dissertation in Politics and International Relations at the University of Edinburgh.

Kate Turner
Executive Assistant and HR Administrator
Kate is a skilled EA with excellent organisational skills. Her role at Simply Sustainable is to support the CEO and CFO in driving the international and national growth of the business.
Since joining Simply Sustainable in 2021, Kate has been responsible for organisational development, including updating the company’s HR processes and introducing an enhanced benefit package for the team. A confident public speaker, she leads team briefings and ensures the team is aligned and updated on all significant organisational changes. Kate oversees all recruitment into Simply Sustainable, as well as the onboarding of Simply Sustainable’s first graduate intake. In addition, Kate is responsible for procuring new office space – nationally and internationally.
Lia Locke
Marketing Manager
Lia is an accomplished marketing professional with over 10 years’ experience in driving growth and brand awareness through strategic marketing initiatives and creative campaigns. Lia is responsible for Simply Sustainable’s digital campaigns, event planning, website management and content direction. Lia brings together data-driven marketing strategies with a deep understanding of market trends to expand our reach and engage with our audience in meaningful ways.
Having worked with large brands, Lia’s background and areas of expertise encompass a wide scope of skillsets which include stakeholder management, data analysis, project management, sales strategies, and reporting and communications.
Annie Gardiner
Marketing Executive
As Marketing Executive at Simply Sustainable, Annie thrives on crafting dynamic marketing campaigns that showcase our expert knowledge. She specialises in creating compelling branded content that not only engages our audience, but also drives meaningful conversations about the complexities of the sustainability landscape. Working hard within the marketing department, she also helps coordinate our calendar of events that coincide with current topics in ESG and Sustainability today.
With an MA degree in Graphic Design and a BA degree in Creative Advertising, Annie has brought a strong design background to her role. Her passion and expertise are dedicated to amplifying Simply Sustainable’s mission of making a lasting positive impact for our clients.
Louise Willcocks
Finance Manager
Louise is responsible for the day to day running of the accounting processes with a focus on financial and board reporting, budgeting and the filing of the annual accounts. Louise started her career by obtaining a degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Bristol. She then joined KPMG, in Middle Markets Audit, where she gained her ICAEW Chartered Accountant ACA qualification. After qualifying, Louise went into industry gaining the majority of her experience in the media and investment banking sector.
Mathew Gaal
Chief of Staff
As Chief of Staff at Simply Sustainable, Mathew brings extensive experience across business strategy, investment, and consulting. With a proven track record in strategic leadership and operational excellence, Mathew has been pivotal in helping organisations drive growth and navigate complex challenges.
Having recently graduated with an MBA from the University of Oxford, Mathew has previously led high-impact projects across a variety of sectors, including financial services, energy, and telecommunications. His work focused on business growth, strategic vision, and facilitating new business partnerships, equipping him with the expertise needed to steer consultancy operations and strategic planning.
Mathew has also gained significant experience in sustainable investment and sustainability reporting, driving new investments as part of a green Private Equity fund in Australia and supporting the development of responsible investment strategies during his time at Futurity Investment Group.
With a passion for sustainability and strategic growth, Mathew is dedicated to advancing Simply Sustainable’s mission while delivering value to clients through innovative and sustainable business solutions.
