Delivering ESG through people: Supporting Whistl’s 2024 ESG report.
In 2025, Simply Sustainable partnered with Whistl, one of the UK’s leading logistics companies, to deliver its second ESG report. With operations spanning over 20 sites and nearly 1,800 employees, Whistl is a people-powered business focused on responsible growth, operational resilience and sustainability.
Building on several years of collaboration – including support with Whistl’s ESG strategy, baseline carbon footprint, decarbonisation roadmap and inaugural ESG report – Simply Sustainable led the development of the 2024 publication. The aim was to reflect Whistl’s growing ESG maturity and to amplify the role of colleagues in delivering its sustainability goals.
Through a structured and collaborative process, Simply Sustainable delivered a comprehensive report aligned with leading frameworks including GRI, SASB and TCFD. The report was shaped around Whistl’s three ESG pillars:

The challenges and objectives
As Whistl’s ESG approach matured, the business needed a report that would clearly communicate its progress while staying true to its identity as a people-powered organisation.
The challenge was to reflect both strategic milestones, such as the validation of Whistl’s science-based targets and the everyday actions of colleagues delivering ESG from the ground up. The report also needed to meet rising stakeholder expectations around transparency, alignment and data quality, without losing sight of the human stories at the heart of the business.
Simply Sustainable’s objective was to deliver a structured, credible and engaging ESG report aligned to Whistl’s three ESG pillars and key disclosure frameworks including GRI, SASB and TCFD. The aim was to strengthen accountability, bring clarity to Whistl’s ESG narrative, and support long-term, values-led progress.

The story
Simply Sustainable supported Whistl in developing its 2024 ESG report through a structured, people-focused approach. Building on a multi-year relationship, the project drew on deep knowledge of Whistl’s operations, strategy and culture.
The report was shaped around Whistl’s three ESG pillars and brought to life through stories gathered from across its 20+ sites. Through collaborative engagement with teams in HR, operations, fleet and facilities, we surfaced employee-led examples of how ESG is being delivered every day.
Alongside these human stories, we supported technical elements including TCFD-aligned climate risk disclosures, a GRI content index, and progress reporting against Whistl’s validated science-based targets. The result is a clear, credible and engaging ESG report that reflects the maturity of Whistl’s approach and its people-powered delivery.
